In honor of School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, we proudly recognize and thank our dedicated School Resource Officer, Officer Ben Jones, for the incredible work he does every single day in our school.
Officer Jones is so much more than a police officer — he is a mentor, role model, educator, and trusted member of our school community. On a daily basis, he builds positive relationships with students and staff, promotes safety, and helps create an environment where learning can thrive.
From daily interactions to being a reassuring presence in the hallways, our SRO goes above and beyond to support and protect our youth. Thank you, Officer Jones!

The students in the BMS Make it Your Business classes successfully encouraged BMS to save over 550 pounds of plastic. Our original goal was 1000 pounds but Trex, the company that uses the plastic, gave us a bench early based on our record of sending in over 100 pounds per month. We received a charcoal black bench made out of recycled plastic. Congratulations BMS!

The BMS Beta Club volunteered at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Centerin support of Pawlidays, a community outreach event hosted by MCASAC. Beta Club members used their leadership skills and ran several stations at the event: serving popcorn and hot chocolate, helping with a simulated “adoption” activity where younger children adopted stuffed animals, and caring for baby kittens. They also encouraged community members to support the shelter through the Angel Tree program, assisted with crafts, and helped make treats for the dogs. Afterwards, we helped clean up and pack up the leftover items.

A big congratulations to three of our BMS 6th graders for winning 2nd place at the SWVA Can Code Regional Showcase!
They pitched their app, "Kitchen Help," to a panel of industry experts on the main stage at UVA Wise. The students created their app prototype during an MCPS camp in June. "Kitchen Help" helps families save time while cooking healthy food and reducing food waste.
We're so proud of all the BMS and CMS students who traveled to UVA Wise to share their amazing app prototypes!
