Dear BMS Community,

This morning, our building lost power due to an Appalachian Power issue. Additionally, the fire alarm went off at our building. Out of an abundance of caution, our building was evacuated while the Blacksburg Fire Department investigated the cause of the alarm.

At this time, the building has been cleared and all students are safe and back inside. The school day is continuing. We are still without power. AEP is working diligently to fix this issue.

We will provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Blacksburg Middle School has so much to be proud of! We are excited to share that BMS has earned the designation of Distinguished School, is Fully Accredited, and ranks among the top-performing middle schools in Superintendent’s Region 6!

Congratulations to the BMS Baseball Team with their 12-1 victory over Pulaski County on Thursday evening. WTG Bruins !!!

Members of the Vet School’s Student National Association of Black Veterinarians joined Ms Eyre’s AgScience class to promote the veterinary science profession! SNABV’s mission is to provide support and cultivate an inclusive community for black veterinarians. Our BMS students asked so many great questions and gained a deeper understanding of all that veterinary medicine involves.

Sports Physicals are available at LewisGale Montgomery on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Registration is required. Please call the school at 540-951-5800 to register.

New MCPS Superintendent Dr Kelly Guempel visited BMS as part of his Superintendent's Listening Tour! Welcome, Dr Guempel; we're excited to work with you!

Congratulations to our BMS Beta Club! Lillie P, Sonja A, and XiXi L competed at the Virginia State National Beta Convention. Sonja presented 3-D Design and Crocheting, XiXi entered Digital Art, and Lillie created a Quilling project and designed our Community Service presentation. XiXi earned 3rd place, and our club’s Community Service Showcase earned 2nd place, advancing to Nationals.
